ASDA’s Extra Special Cheeseboard Challenge

So when I was asked by Asda if I would like to participate in some Festive Cheeseboard activity, of course the answer was yes please and thank you very much.

I don’t know about you but for me, other than the main event of Christmas Dinner, the Christmas Cheeseboard is something I think a lot about in the weeks approaching the big day, and by think I mean dream and dribble over. It is the ultimate indulgence and treat and it’s something that never goes a miss at special occasions. We always tend to go all out with various different Cheese, Bread, Crackers, Chutney, Fruit. Its always a chance for me to get super creative and also make sure I can have a little of everything I fancy in one sitting.

If you have ever been to Asda, you will know that they have an Extra Special own brand range. Which is all of Asda’s very own products but on the fancier side of things and still all totally affordable in true Asda style.

Their range of Extra Special Cheeses are actually Award Winning and I can vouch that they really are up there with the best of them and much more impressive for family and friends than your average Cheese, including Asda’s Extra Special Creamy Wensleydale, Extra Special Triple Cream Blue Cheese and Extra Special Manchego which are all Gold Standard and will make for a pretty amazing cheeseboard and help you and your family have the best Christmas ever.

For my Ultimate Christmas Cheeseboard I used the Vintage Red Fox Red Leicester, Brie De Pays, Blue Stilton, Butlers Mature Farmhouse Tasty Lancashire and Gorgonzola Picante, all from Asda’s Extra Special Range.

I alway try to use at least 4 different cheeses on a cheeseboard, all of different styles, textures and flavours. My favourites to include are one hard white cheese, one soft white cheese, one blue cheese and one red cheese. I always make my cheeseboard up a little while before eating so the cheese is room temperature when you tuck in, this just enhances all flavours and makes for a much yummier experience.

Of course crackers are a must have and I always try to have a good variety of these too. One of my favourite things to do is finely slice some Ciabatta, drizzle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and pop under the grill. Along with this I always include some Nuts and Fruit, things like Walnuts, Almonds, Grapes, Figs, Dates go so well with Cheese.

With my cheeseboard I also had some Extra Special Flame Roasted Tomato and Habanero Chilli Chutney and some Extra Special Halkidiki Green Olives stuffed with Dried Tomatoes. The Butlers Mature Farmhouse Tasty Lancashire with the Chutney was next level yummy and definitely my favourite combination.

I was more than impressed with all of these cheeses and will be taking on the role of sorting out the Christmas Cheeseboard this year which I’m SO excited for, especially now I know which ones are my favourites and I will be using them all.

If you haven’t tried any of Asda’s Extra Special Award Winning Cheeses, then I honestly do recommend you give them a go for your festive Cheeseboard and let me know what you think!
